Chapter 202: [Enhanced Effect: A Happy Ending for the Final Boss?]
Chapter 202: [Enhanced Effect: A Happy Ending for the Final Boss?]
The beast roared, releasing a heartbreaking sound born of pure pain, rage, and despair.
The walls of the room trembled.
The caveman’s muscles tensed.
The black wings beat against the air.
The android’s metallic parts screeched as the monster charged directly toward Max, destroying everything in its path.
"Dorian!" Max shouted.
The elf looked up.
"What?"
"Take Thara and get out of here!"
The beast tore a section of the wall apart with a clumsy swipe of its claws.
Debris flew everywhere.
Dorian understood immediately.
"Let’s go!"
He ran toward the drow.
Thara was still clutching the notebook against her chest.
"But Max!"
"Now!"
Dorian grabbed her hand without waiting for an answer.
And began running down the hallway they had come through.
Thara looked back one last time.
Max was already moving in the opposite direction.
Standing before that monstrosity.
The beast turned its head.
Its deformed eyes locked onto Max, and it began chasing him.
"Perfect."
Max smiled.
"Come after me."
He threw the hammer.
The weapon spun several times, struck the creature in the face, and returned to his hand.
The beast roared.
It kept advancing.
Max threw and caught the hammer again and again.
Each impact drew more of its attention.
Each strike made it angrier.
Until it stopped paying attention to anything else.
It only wanted to crush Max.
"That’s it."
Max ran.
At the same time, he activated the necklace.
Ten magic circles appeared around the hall.
Ten skeleton knights emerged from them.
They stood awaiting orders.
"Attack!"
The skeletons obeyed immediately.
At the same time, the Cloak of Efficient Movement began releasing violet mist.
The fog spread rapidly.
It covered the floor.
The walls.
The ceiling.
Everything became wrapped in dense purple darkness.
The beast let out a furious roar.
It couldn’t see.
It couldn’t distinguish anything.
It lashed out blindly.
Its claws tore through a wall.
Its wings battered the air.
But it couldn’t find Max.
Then the skeletons arrived.
Their swords struck its body.
The beast reacted violently.
One swipe.
Two skeletons exploded into pieces.
Another strike.
A third was reduced to scattered bones.
The creature roared.
Attacked again.
Two more were destroyed.
Five skeletons vanished within seconds.
But the remaining five continued fighting.
Max watched from within the fog.
Waiting, calculating, and preparing the seal.
He pulled out the page Thara had given him.
It was still incomplete.
"Let’s see if this works..."
He bit his finger.
He tasted the metallic flavor of blood.
Then he pressed his thumb against the drawing.
He traced a small line.
The one that completely closed the circle.
The seal glowed.
White light spread across the entire page.
Max smiled.
"Good."
He looked back at the beast.
The five remaining skeletons managed to restrain it.
One clung to an arm.
Another to a leg.
Two more grabbed its wings.
The last one hung onto its back.
The creature roared and thrashed violently.
But for a brief moment, it was immobilized.
That was enough.
Max placed the paper on the head of his hammer.
Held it firmly.
Took a deep breath.
And threw the weapon.
The hammer cut through the violet fog.
Spinning.
Faster and faster.
Straight toward the beast.
Will managed to break the skeletons apart.
One after another until he was finally free.
And then he saw the hammer emerging from the mist.
Too close.
There wasn’t enough time to dodge.
He extended an arm and caught it.
The force of the impact drove him backward.
But he managed to stop it.
He tried to prevent it from returning to Max.
But then something happened.
A white light emerged from the seal.
And began traveling up his arm.
Will’s eyes widened.
The energy advanced.
It climbed through the caveman’s gigantic muscles.
And they began to disappear.
Like sand carried away by the wind.
The monstrous arm shrank.
Returning to Vesper’s arm.
The energy continued moving.
Will let out a cry.
Not of pain.
Of relief.
The constant suffering of the fusion began to fade.
The sensation that every part of his body had been assembled incorrectly.
The agony.
The pressure.
Everything began to disappear.
The light continued flowing through him.
The android’s metal components detached themselves.
The black wings vanished.
The feathers disintegrated.
The bird’s claws dissolved into white particles.
The caveman’s muscles shrank.
The creature began to grow smaller.
Until finally only a single figure remained.
A drow woman with white hair, gray skin, and completely naked.
Kneeling in the middle of the mist.
Crying.
The hammer fell to the ground beside her.
Silence filled the room.
Max slowly walked forward.
The violet fog parted around him.
Will looked up.
Tears streamed down Vesper’s face.
"I..."
His voice trembled.
"I never wanted this to happen."
Max stopped in front of him.
He no longer saw a monster.
Or a villain.
Or a threat.
He only saw someone broken.
Someone who had spent more than a hundred years trapped.
Trying to get home.
Then a window appeared before his eyes.
[Skill Activated]
Max blinked.
Another line appeared.
[Enhanced Item Effect]
"What?"
He murmured.
Will seemed to notice something as well.
Vesper’s body collapsed forward.
And a blue light slowly began to emerge from it.
Max’s eyes widened.
The figure was transparent.
Blurred.
But he could make it out.
A man, crying and smiling at the same time.
It was Will.
His true form.
His soul.
The seal’s white energy began surrounding him.
It spun around him like a vortex.
Will looked at his own hands.
Then looked at Max.
And smiled.
A smile filled with relief.
With gratitude.
And with peace.
Max smiled too.
"I told you already."
Will watched him silently.
"It didn’t have to come to this."
The blue light trembled.
As though it wanted to answer.
Then another window appeared.
[Enhanced Effect: Return Transmigrated Souls to Their World]
Max froze.
"Thank you, Atlas..."
The system had improved the seal.
It wasn’t just returning summons anymore.
It was returning souls.
Will’s eyes widened.
He looked genuinely happy.
The white energy intensified and began wrapping around him completely.
Will closed his eyes.
Took a deep breath.
And when he opened them again...
There was no more rage.
No more pain.
No more despair.
Only peace.
He raised a hand.
As if saying goodbye.
Max answered with a small gesture.
"Good luck."
Will’s smile widened.
The white light slowly consumed him.
His figure began to fade away.
Until he finally disappeared completely.
Like someone who had finally found the road home.
The room fell silent.
Max stared at the empty space where Will had been.
And for several seconds, he said nothing.
Then he looked down at Vesper’s unconscious body.
And sighed.
"Looks like in the end..."
He stored the hammer inside his Infinite Backpack.
"...we really were able to help you."
