Chapter 203: Leaving the Mirror Dimension
Chapter 203: Leaving the Mirror Dimension
Don ran as fast as his legs would allow.
Or at least as fast as someone who had spent the last several minutes fleeing from monsters could run.
Beside him, Neros advanced steadily.
The knight kept a serious expression while holding the hilt of his sword.
And ahead of both of them ran Moonlight.
The little dragoness was moving at full speed. The worry on her face was impossible to hide.
"Faster!" she shouted.
"I’m going as fast as I can!" Don replied.
"I have short hooves!"
Moon didn’t seem to hear him.
She kept running through the corridors of the Mirror Dimension.
The entire place looked as though it was slowly falling apart.
Neros glanced around.
"I don’t like this."
"Neither do I," Don replied.
"That’s why I wanted to leave."
Suddenly, two figures appeared at the end of the corridor.
Everyone stopped.
Moon was the first to recognize them.
"Dorian!"
Dorian was covered in dust, his clothes were torn to shreds, and a massive bruise was already forming across one of his cheekbones.
Thara stood beside him, equally covered in dust.
Don let out a sigh of relief.
"You’re alive!"
"Barely," Dorian answered.
Moon looked behind them.
"Where’s Daddy?"
Thara and Dorian exchanged a glance.
Neros stepped forward.
"Is everyone alright?"
Dorian scratched the back of his neck.
"Not exactly."
Moon’s eyes widened.
"What happened?"
"Max stayed behind fighting."
Moon felt her heart stop.
"Fighting what?"
Dorian sighed.
"A monster."
The little dragoness clenched her fists.
"Then we have to go."
Neros nodded.
"I agree."
Don raised a hand.
"I brought help, just like I promised!"
Dorian smiled.
Moon was already walking forward.
"We can’t waste any time."
Then a voice stopped them.
"Please."
Everyone turned toward Thara.
"Please," she repeated.
"If my sister is still alive..."
Her voice trembled.
"Don’t hurt her."
No one answered immediately.
Finally, Neros nodded.
"We’ll do everything we can."
Thara lowered her head.
"Thank you."
And everyone continued forward.

It didn’t take them long to find the place, because the entire area was covered in a massive violet fog.
It looked like the aftermath of a war.
Moon was the first to enter.
And then she saw him.
"Daddy!"
Max stood in the middle of the room, covered in dust, his shield resting against the floor and his hammer nowhere in sight.
In front of him lay a fallen figure.
The drow, Vesper.
And a strange blue light floating in the air.
Everyone arrived just in time to watch that light disappear into a white energy.
None of them fully understood what had happened.
They only saw it fade away.
Like a star burning out.
Moon wasn’t paying attention to any of that anymore.
She ran straight toward Max.
Then threw herself into his arms.
"Daddy!"
Max barely had time to react.
The little dragoness was already clinging to him.
Burying her face against his chest.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Did they hurt you?"
Max smiled and ruffled her hair.
"I’m okay, Moon."
Moon looked up.
"Really?"
"For now, yes."
The little dragoness sighed in relief.
Then hugged him even tighter.
Max closed his eyes for a moment.
Enjoying that small moment of peace.
Because after everything that had happened...
He needed it.
Neros looked around.
The signs of battle were obvious.
Destroyed walls.
Metal debris.
Black feathers.
Broken stone.
And several shattered skeletons scattered across the floor.
The knight let out a whistle.
"Looks like there was quite a battle here."
Max chuckled softly.
"Yeah."
He looked at the destruction.
"More or less."
Dorian crossed his arms.
"That’s a very humble way of describing it."
Don nodded.
"I’d say you destroyed half the castle."
"Only a small part of it," Max replied.
Meanwhile, Thara slowly walked forward, ignoring the conversation.
Her attention was completely focused on the figure lying on the ground.
Vesper.
Or at least Vesper’s body.
The drow dropped to her knees beside her.
Carefully.
Trembling.
She placed a hand against her neck.
Searching for a pulse.
Then she felt it.
Breathing.
Thara’s eyes filled with tears.
"She’s alive..."
she whispered.
She checked again.
Just to make sure.
Still breathing.
Slowly.
But breathing.
She lifted her head.
Looking toward Dorian.
"Please, Royal Healer."
Her voice broke.
"Examine her."
The elf immediately stepped forward.
For once.
No jokes.
No smiles.
No strange comments.
He simply knelt beside Vesper.
And placed his hands on her.
Green energy appeared instantly.
His magic flowed through the drow’s body.
Searching for wounds.
Internal damage.
Everything.
The rest waited in silence.
Several seconds passed.
Finally, Dorian opened his eyes.
And smiled.
Thara nearly stopped breathing.
"Well?" she asked.
Dorian nodded.
"She’s alive."
The drow let out a strange sound.
Half laugh.
Half sob.
"Thank you..."
Dorian continued.
"She’s very weak. It looks like the fusion damaged her body pretty badly. But if we get her to my medical ward quickly..."
He stood up.
"...I think I can save her."
Tears began streaming down Thara’s face.
This time she didn’t try to hide them.
"Thank you."
she repeated.
"Thank you so much."
Dorian scratched the back of his neck, looking slightly uncomfortable.
"It’s nothing."
Neros stepped forward.
"I’ll carry her."
He bent down.
And carefully lifted Vesper’s unconscious body.
As though he was afraid of hurting her.
Thara watched the scene.
And seemed to relax a little.
Moon was still clinging to Max.
"Is it really over now?" she asked.
Max looked toward the place where Will had disappeared.
He remembered the smile.
The farewell.
And the system message.
Then he sighed.
"I think so."
Dorian looked around the ruined room.
"It better be. Because I’m not fighting another caveman."
Don raised a hand.
"And I’m not going into another Mirror Dimension."
No one argued with that.
It was a very reasonable opinion.
Max stored his shield inside his Infinite Backpack.
And started walking.
"Let’s go."
Everyone followed him.
Neros carrying Vesper.
Thara walking beside him.
Dorian bringing up the rear.
Moon holding tightly onto Max’s arm.
And Don constantly looking over his shoulder in case another monster appeared.
The group headed toward the exit of the Mirror Dimension.
Leaving behind the battlefield.
The ruins.
The violet fog.
And the story of a transmigrated boy named Will.
One who had spent more than a hundred years trying to find his way home.
And who had finally succeeded.
