Chapter 719 Four Hypotheses
Chapter 719 Four Hypotheses
Chapter 719 Four Hypotheses
Chen Ying frowned deeply: "This is too contradictory! Judging from the timeline, the City of No Return was one of the first two cities to arrive. The Red Moon World should correspond to the original Underworld! Even if they came earlier by sneaking around, it should correspond to the Witch Clan! Not like this now... a hodgepodge."
Yes, the timeline doesn't match.
Lin Xiaohe: "There is another possibility. Among the three thousand minor worlds, there is also a minor world that contains these elements. The City of No Return referenced this minor world to construct the Red Moon World."
But what's the point?
This world of the Crimson Moon lacks any particularly outstanding features. Its technological level is not superior, its magic is not strong, and its martial arts are far inferior to those of cultivators.
Can't figure it out!
The library clock is counting down.
The reading time for intermediate-level access is almost up.
Lin Xiaohe had no choice but to quickly flip through the remaining content.
After the London evacuation, humanity realized that scattered resistance would only lead to being defeated one by one.
The five major powers signed the Charter of Union in Edinburgh, establishing a unified command structure and beginning the systematic construction of a walled city.
The major cities that still exist today include: London (capital city), Hamburg (fortress city), Warsaw (fortress city), Constantinople (fortress city, now fallen), and Jerusalem (autonomous city-state).
In the eastern superpower, Chongqing, Xi'an, and Chengdu are connected by an underground tunnel network, forming the Bashu Survival Circle.
We will eventually win the final victory!
Long live humanity!
Lin Xiaohe's gaze lingered briefly on the city name, and the library card emitted a ticking warning sound.
We need to speed things up!
Lin Xiaohe opened the catalog and found the classification standard for alien demons (Library Pullman Classification).
This classification system, developed by Edmund Pullman (deceased), the third head of the cataloging department at the library, is currently the universally accepted standard. The classification is based on: ① degree of physical presence; ② contamination radius; ③ intelligence level; ④ destructibility.
Level Name, Feature, Adversarial Requirements, Known Samples
Type I parasites require a host organism, have a low degree of physicality, possess intelligence close to that of animals with conventional firepower, and can be killed by silver weapons. Examples include the mitotic tern and the tsetse fly.
Type II predators are solitary entities, typically under two meters in size, with basic hunting strategies in squads of 4-6 people, and require silver ammunition to fight. Examples include ghouls and skinners.
Class III pollution sources have a passive pollution radius of 10-50 meters, rewriting local physical rules (such as gravity and temperature), affecting a company level (20-30 people), and require alchemical equipment to combat. Examples include the Rotten Swamp (which turns the ground into digestive fluid) and the Howler (sound pollution).
Type IV obsession entities are formed from a large amount of negative human emotions. They have no fixed form and are almost immortal (at the battle level). They require a sealing ritual, such as the Weeping Mother.
Type V descendants of the Old Gods possess the blood of the Ancients, have domain-level abilities, and intelligence comparable to a human legion (over 500 people). They require a returnee from the Fate Space to lead the Faceless Ones (confirmed, origin unknown) and seven of the Ten Primal Beings.
Type VI projections are fragments of the ancient self in reality, usually involving only one sense or thought that cannot be eradicated, but can only be dispelled or deceived. Examples include the dream sculptor's left eye or the sigh of the unresponsive.
There were many more records about the appearance of otherworldly demons, but Lin Xiaohe didn't look at them. Instead, she found the research records about the Destiny Space.
The first hero was an ordinary London dockworker named Thomas Gray. Seventy-two hours after being swallowed by the Type III demon 'Rotten Swamp', he emerged from the bottom of the Thames River unharmed.
His account was: I went to a place with a black and white checkered floor and a fluorescent ceiling. A voice told me that if I completed some tasks, I could come back alive. I killed a bat. It was that simple.
We later learned that Thomas Gray spent three whole months in that place, experiencing seventeen dungeons.
His memory was severely altered; he thought he had only been there for a few hours.
The only trophy he brought back was a silver ring on the ring finger of his left hand.
Based on years of research on heroes, there are four main hypotheses in the library.
Hypothesis 1: Consciousness Trap.
The Space of Destiny is a consciousness trap created by the Ancients to filter out valuable souls. Humanity believes it has gained power, but in reality, it is feeding the hunger of some higher being.
Each time you clear a level and receive a reward, you are providing the Ancient One with some kind of invisible emotional energy—fear, despair, hope, and the urge to kill.
This hypothesis suggests that we should not enter the Fate Realm, as this would only strengthen the Otherworldly Demons.
Hypothesis 2: Humanity's last refuge.
Fate Space is an emergency device created by a long-vanished prehistoric civilization before the collapse of human civilization.
It transforms humanity's collective unconscious into a functional copy, allowing humanity to gain the ability to fight against the alien demons through trials on the brink of extinction. The rewards within this space are not handouts, but rather legacies pre-existing within the system.
Supporting evidence: Some copies contain technological products that are clearly not from this era (such as superalloys and room-temperature superconductors).
Counter-evidence: Why did the ancients allow this device to continue existing?
Hypothesis 3: Symbiotic system.
Fate Space and Otherworldly Demons are two sides of the same coin.
The Otherworldly Demons are the excrement of the Ancients, and the Space of Fate is the digestive system of the Ancients. When we enter the Space, it's as if we're being swallowed.
When we pass a level, it's like being digested and turned into nutrients, which are then ruminated back into reality and transformed into more efficient tools.
This hypothesis posits that the brave are not human heroes, but rather superior food sources.
Hypothesis 4: Prison.
The Space of Fate is a prison used to imprison the Ancients. When an Ancient attempts to awaken, the space's mechanisms are triggered, forcibly throwing a portion of humanity into it to activate the seal.
Each time we clear a level, we're essentially repairing the cage. That's why the Ancients have never fully awakened!
Only ten seconds left!
Lin Xiaohe and Chen Ying put the books back on the shelf and ran out of the library, stumbling and falling.
The two leaned against the library's outer wall, panting heavily.
Chen Ying licked her lips, her stomach growling with hunger: "Director Lin, are we considered level two demons? Is Teacher Xinbao level four or five?"
Lin Xiaohe: "Why did you apply their rating system? Why did you use their definitions?"
Ok?
Chen Ying was taken aback and realized her misconception.
Yeah, does that mean whatever level they say it is?
Lin Xiaohe led Chen Ying toward the Destiny Space Hall: "Come on, we need to go in again."
What do you want to do?
Lin Xiaohe: "Their hypothesis about the space of fate is quite interesting and has given me a lot of inspiration."
Which hypothesis are you referring to?
"We have them all."
